Tell us a little about yourself and what you do every day

Hi Im Mike, I guess you could call me a travel enthusiast with a strong passion for the outdoors and adventure. I have been lucky enough to visit many places and spend my time enjoying nature and experiencing new cultures away from everyday life.

Growing up in the foothills of South Australia I developed a strong sense of comfort from being in the great outdoors at an early age. I have always loved the ocean and the outback but after an eight week backpacking trip around Japan I developed a new love for the mountains and the crystal clear rivers that run through them.

If I'm not chasing the snow season I'm chasing fish, camping or searching for a new hiking trail. Nature mixed with adrenaline is what Im all about. Snowboarding, bodyboarding, wakeboarding, cold water swimming, climbing, if its high or fast count me in!

How did your adventure with photography start?

My journey into photography is a relatively new one. I have only recently began to take more photos over the past year or so, after realising.

I have traveled to some amazing countries and beautiful places but didn’t have many pictures to look back on. Capturing a moment, in a special place that may only happen once in a life time has driven me to step into photography and try to capture those memories on film.

What do you like the most about traveling?

The cultural diversity.

I love to see how other people live, the different cultures they are a custom to and of course the food! You can learn a lot from the people you meet travelling, often un intentionally. It can give you a great sense of freedom.

There is nothing better than a road trip with no real plan or a one way ticket to a new destination. It can be a wild adventure filled blur or a humbling and eye opening experience that really makes you appreciate the small things.

Being able to explore the varying natural surroundings in different places is something that fascinates me. Each destination is unique in their own form of natural beauty and being out there in the middle of it is exciting.

What is your favorite trip that you have done?

I will have to say my first backpacking trip almost ten years ago. That kicked started my love for travelling overseas and not just in my own country.

I was young, had never been overseas before and was going with my two best mates. What more could you ask for! We quit our jobs and packed our bags for six months of travelling around Europe. Stepping out of the train station into Barcelona at 11pm with no accommodation booked was an interesting start to the trip but the beginning of all the adventure.

We visited seventeen countries throughout the six months each with fond memories and some pretty wild stories. We took the time to get off the beaten track and away from the main tourists destinations to experience the real culture. We spoke to every local possible, stayed in peoples flats, camped in random places and missed countless bus and boats we had planned. Picked up hitchhikers that took us rock climbing, visited family we had never met before and partied for days on end.

After returning I realised there was more to life than just the one society has mapped out for us. I moved to the Whitsunday islands in Australia to work as a tour guide on sailing boats, giving other travellers an experience from my country like many had done for me.

Why do you think you match with Fat Moose so well?

I spend every spare moment I can outdoors. I work outdoors in building and construction so the clothes I choose to wear need to be durable and suit the conditions.

Weather can change fast and being out trekking or trail running clothes need to be lightweight, breathable and waterproof. Fat Moose has achieved bringing versatile outdoor gear to fashionable clothing you can wear for any occasion and that suits me well.

The urban/outdoor style is always what I have always liked. Coming from a really hot country it can be hard for me to adjust to the weather when living and visiting some really cold places. The warmth and comfort that Fatmoose clothing provides is great!

What is your favorite Fat Moose item?

The checkered overshirt. It was the first Fat Moose item I purchased. So versatile and comfortable.

After realising I was wearing it all the time from going to town and hiking it made me research into the brand. Proof that good quality versatile clothing speaks for itself. You can really dress it up for occasions or wear it hiking or to work.

I love the quality of the materials, how warm it is and the clip buttons add that perfect extra touch.

Thanks Mike - keep traveling, enjoy life and spread joy.
